Make clean water a reality in rural communities
In Cambodia, nearly two million rural households do not have access to safe, potable water. While boiling water helps reduce exposure to water-borne diseases, the indoor air pollution created by wood fires causes serious respiratory and heart problems, especially for children. This fuel use also significantly contributes to Cambodia’s increasing rate of deforestation.
Hydrologic, an award winning Cambodian social enterprise, is providing local households with access to clean, safe drinking water with its ceramic water filters.
This project is already making a difference by:
Distributing more than 400,00 filters
Generating over $16million USD savings in health co-benefits from reduced diarrhoea and respiratory illness related to smoke inhalation
Being used by over one million Cambodians
By spending less time gathering fuel and less income purchasing it, annual household savings totalled $73 compared to those not using a filter.
Preventing 90,000 tonnes CO2e per year from entering the atmosphere
Buy Carbon Credits
Purchase carbon credits to help even more people benefit from this technology. The sale of credits supports continued research and development and the training of local producers and distributors, enabling the project to scale up its impact.
